Sea

I yearn to sleep
in your rocking arms, your whisper
a sailor can hear

This is in gracious response to One Deep Breath, this week's prompt is "Sea". I feel fortunate to have lived near the water most of my life. Part of my childhood and adulthood was spent near the Chesapeake Bay. Most of my adult life I've been around the Puget Sound. I can spend hours combing the beach and getting lost in the sights and sounds. I love walking the shoreline, hearing the waves and scent of saltwater. The shorebirds are a delight to watch.

Oh this makes me want to move back to the coast. There is nothing like the sound of the sea, and the experience of looking at the sheer open vastness of it...

Hi Zappy,

Hope that's ok. :) Just wanted to thank you for your comment. I appreciate when people give me advice.

Love your haiku, I just can't get into them.

One of my most favorite things is to be lulled to sleep by the sound of the sea. Your haiku captured that feeling perfectly :)

Yeah and I yearn to sleep in my dad's arms like I used to. But that damned laptop he just bought is coming between us!

Our dog is half chessapeke bay- they are an interesting breed. I have wanted to visit the area where they were begun.

She's also half black lab, and that's what she looks like, but much of the time, her personality is more like a chessie (protective, smart, loyal- almost to a fault).

The sea does indeed speak to so many. I can tell by your comments. It affects us in ways other climate zones don't. Each is unique in its affect on us, just as we are unique in our affect on others. Thank you for your generous comments.

lp- I remember a Chesapeake Retriever from my youth. We have a picture of him way out in the Bay. It's amazing how far he could swim. I think his name was Red ;) Your pup sounds wonderful!
