Earth Day

I love to consume
and see you overflowing
garbage dumpster

can we continue
to rape you with our selfishness
precious Mother Earth

This is in gracious response to One Deep Breath, this week's prompt is "Earth Day"...."Be creative, be proactive."

I've also included this for Poetry Thursday. Thank you.

Be sure to check out the Ecological Footprint Quiz that helps put one's individual use of planetary resources in perspective. It indicates ones usage in acres needed to sustain one's life style rather than a carbon footprint. And factors in more than just autos and electricity.

I got a 1.4 on the quiz. Not sure if that is good or bad, had to get back to work after taking it. Speaking of work, I am re-initiating a recycling program here today!!!

Thank you for the quiz and the very somber haikus- we need to be honest with ourselves here about our own responsiblity to Mother Earth...

My grand father was a soldier and died because of this sad war...

This is good. We are having spring clean up here, the countryside looks like that dumpster.

Wow! I love the order you chose for the two, and the information you provided. After reading the first poem, the second really slammed me.

very sobering. I took the quiz! I like your juxtaposition of the garbage with the mountains - very thought provoking!

Loved the contrast of photos and thought provoking haiku.

Powerful, both photos and Haiku - Your dumpster photo I picture on a poster - Earth Day poster.

We have been buying less and less, downsized once, then upsized, trying to downsize in near future to the extreme.

I think the Earth will be around for millions of years after humans finally die off.

It's we who are fragile. :)
