Pretend – IF

This is posted in response to Illustration Friday. This week's prompt is "Pretend". My nephew loves art and is quite creative and I hope he keeps at it. We all must start somewhere! Oh, and if anyone can identify the painting, that would be wonderful. It was hanging in the National Gallery of Art (East Bldg).

Hey "zen":

Great collage/digital illusttation for this week's IF topic! I can relate to your inspiration. I have two, young nephews myself (ages 3.5 and 6) who are quite determined and skilled budding artists.

I hope they keep at it because they both show a lot of potential.

Your nephews work is quite good! Some of us spend much of our lifes trying to unlearn bad habbits that cause us tighten up and lose that childlike discovery and spontaneity in our work.

Your nephew seems to have those qualities in abundance. I hope he retains them as he gets older and continues to progress in his creative endeavors.

Thank you for the kind compliments that you left of my blog!

Take Care
john

So good to see this! Hope he keeps with it too! I like how you conveyed this as well. The painting in question escapes my mind, yet is one of my favorites from that building. I know if you check their website, you'll find it there.

I couldn't agree more. Young artists are so full of joy & enthusiasm... it's sad that so many lose their confidence as they grow up, & become convinced that they "can't draw."

Your nephew has two great things going for him-- talent, & a creative auntie to inspire & encourage him!

writer on board- If you're asking about the blog itself, most of the art is mine, and when I use something for a collage, I try to give credit to the artist. Most of the photos are mine. I hope this answers your question.

Very fun image. I like it a lot. I'm so surprised that after 25 comments no one has come up with the name of the painting yet. And me neither.
