Voice

Can you hear
my whisperings between
blades of grass.

Can you feel
my vibrations move
through the earth.

Can you smell
my sweet scent
lingering in moist air.

Can you taste
my flavor, unlike
your normal fare.

Can you touch
my smooth surface
awakening your fingers.

Can you love
my heart deeply
embracing all of me.

Can you hear
my whisperings between
your heartbeat.

I've included this for Poetry Thursday. The random generator prompt was "Voice".

Why do smooth rocks always seem so peaceful? When I go on vacation, a smooth rock is often my souvenir! I have a bunch of them in my apartment!

Its amazing that you can come up with a poem like this based on one word.

(I like smooth rocks too)

I love the questions asked. Do we ever give a thought to rock?

I thoroughly enjoyed this poem. I think that as the question is asked it is answered in relation to the senses and so when you introduce an abstraction in the last stanza, the answer must surely also be "yes".

I've read this several times and I understand something new each read. It touches me.. what a perfect photo to accompany the poem.

I can only hear, feel, smell, taste, touch, and love if I have opened my heart and mind.

Thanks for the beautiful writing and sharing it here.
