Loneliness

for thirty years
you've filled the space beside me
now memories

This is for my neighbor who just lost her husband. Although, he was almost 92, it happened so suddenly. I feel for her and her deep loss. Please keep her in your prayers. I am reminded of the preciousness of life...

This is in gracious response to One Deep Breath. This week's topic is Loneliness.

Age is relative, isn't it? Lovely haiku and the photo is indicative. Strangely enough, I took a similar snap several weeks ago and felt the 'only one' emotion as I snapped it. Nicely done!

I teared up reading this. Well done and the photo is a perfect companion. I'm glad she has you near by.

A beautiful haiku. It doesn't matter the age the pain is still the same. The photo is so appropriate for this.

How sad and lonely and beautiful!
It sounds like your neighbor has a caring friend in you!

This evokes loneliness very well. As a line from one of my own regular poems about grief says "that sudden hole in the middle of everything...."

How timely I should read this post today even though I must have passed by it before. Two of our friends each lost a son in tragic accidents this past week. One died from being struck in the heart by a puck playing hockey, and yesterday one was killed in a car accident. Senseless tragedies.
My heart goes out to your neighbor who lost her companion, her love. I hope her memories comfort her, and in time, peace in her heart.

Very kind thoughts, words, and a lovely image. My thoughts go out to her.

I want to thank all of you for sharing your stories and kind support. Loneliness is one of the most difficult places to be, for me anyway.

Peace to all.

The way meanders
Like a river that forever
Seeks and seeks again. (Haiku)

Great pic! I've taken variants on it many times this fall.

So sorry for your neighbor's loss. Death is incomprehensible. She's lucky to have you in the neighborhood. Very lucky.

What a lonely picture. Actually makes me sad, but it's beautiful at the same time.

My condolences to your neighbor. It's so hard losing someone you love.

Last year, I photographied the last leaf on my Liqidambar which has pretty beautiful leaves having the same shape than this one on your picture
Then the wind brought it away. So it became an anonymous. Before it was a star in the sky though. I can remember that I thought that you may be famous one day and one in the middle of millions ones the day after...
